Summer Research Programme
This summer, CDE was delighted to welcome interns from EMILDAI - the European Master in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence, a joint European master’s programme coordinated by Dublin City University for an interdisciplinary research programme exploring the legal, ethical and societal questions raised by emerging technologies.
The programme was led by Michael R. Scheessele, Professor Emeritus of Computer Science and Psychology at Indiana University South Bend. It connected academic learning with practical inquiry, contributing to CDE’s work on digital ethics, human rights and the public interest.
We also thank Dr Edoardo Celeste, EMILDAI Programme Chair at Dublin City University, for his support in making this collaboration possible.

From January to March, CDE was pleased to support a second-semester research placement for a master’s student from Trinity College Dublin’s Faculty of Digital Humanities.
The collaboration created space for the student to bring digital-humanities perspectives into CDE’s work, while gaining experience of how questions about technology, culture, rights and public life are approached beyond the university.
We are grateful to Professor Jennifer Edmond for making this connection possible, and we value the contribution this kind of exchange makes to a stronger relationship between academic research and public-interest digital ethics.
